Trip Overview
Trekking to Naungmung is designed for young and old travelers who want to make a trekking trip on the part of the Eastern Himalaya area. Naungmung is the last administrated town on the northern part Myanmar. World famous Mt. Hkakaborazi and Hkakaborazi National Park make Naungmung to be well known place. This small town is the jump of point for all travelers and hikers who want to visit to the last village of Myanmar in the north. Half of the trip before Naungmung will be easy trek and rest of half will be moderate trekking among the forest mountain but most will be down trekking back to Putao. On this tour, you can observe the way of life of the mountain people at the villages on the way. Wild orchids, rain forest, medicine plants butterflies, fishes, endemic bird species, wild animals as panda, monkey, gibbon, and etc. could be seen along the way.If you really like to make a trekking ( not hard hiking) among the forest mountain, we do recommend this trip.

| Fitness : | This trekking trip is designed for young and old clients. We recommend it for the trekkers who have some experiences in trekking.It will be long trekking, hiking in the deep forest but most of the night stop will be at a local house in the village. So we do recommend that you should be fit for this trip. |
| Time for the trip: | From October to April are recommended, the best time will be on November, December, January and February. |
| Weather Info: | October to April will be hot in the day time but it will be cold in the early morning and late evening. It will be 20oC- 25oC at day time and 0oC to6oC at night time normally. It will be about -2o to -10oc at the night of last 2 camps. June to September will be rain. |
| Accommodation: | One night at a hotel or guest house in Putao, 9 nights at local houses in the village and the tent. We will provide good sleeping bags and mattresses at the villages and in the tent. |
| Bathrooms/shower on trek: | Bathroom is not available at all villages. We do arrange to take a bath and watching the cloth at your accommodation place in the village house. It will be very basic and local standard. Being adventure trekking, you should please keep in mind that everything will be same as some century ago. |
| Meals info: | All meals are included in your package.Lunch box is recommended for whole day trekking. |
| Baggage | We do recommend a medium site day back bag for your essential medicine, camera, water, rain cover and etc. Our porters will carry all of your big baggage in which includes all of your personal gears, clothes and etc. But you should pack just essential thing for your trekking days. We do request to leave all rest things do not need for your trekking at our Putao office or at the first village. We will keep all of these in our main locker at our office in Putao. |
| Notice : | Sand fly and leached will be found on your trekking in lowland, especially on the first and last 3 days. It could be rain on trekking days ( 10 % ). Most of the trekking time will be in the rain forest mountain. Three days will be open trek among pine forest area. |

Itinerary
Putao - Naung MungVillage –Putao
11 Days / 10 night
Day1 Yangon / Mandalay – Putao by flight ( L,D )
Upon arrival at Putao airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and pick you up to the downtown which lies in a flat valley, jumping-off point for trekkers who want to explore the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains. After a brief fresh up at a local restaurant, check in for your accommodation.After take a rest at your hotel or guest house, enjoy scenic driving to Mularshide village. After sightseeing in the village, we will walk on the beautiful bridge which over Mular river. Looking to the snowcap mountain from the bridge will be the best introduction to northern Myanmar. You will seed crystal ice white water on the rocky river “ Mular”. Fishing babies, women watching on the stone, people on the bamboo-raftings, kind fisher and sweet sound of the river will send you to back one century ago. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant and night stop will be in Putao.
Day 2 Putao - Machanbaw- Alangga by trekking ( B, L, D)
After breakfast, proceed to Machanbaw and the morning flat trekking among the forest on the mountain leads to the lunch time on the way. Another one will be in the continuity for the next one and a half mile, along the way down including crossing the Htekha Bridge over the river Namhte. For photography with the breathtaking scene of the genuine nature it is a nice place deserved for stop, also for the watching of local gold mining along the river. The next two mile journey will end at Alangga Village. Seeing the sights in the village after 11 mile trek in total (about 7 hours) will be finished with the night stay at a Lizu traditional house in the village.
Day 3.Alanggavillage –Htangga village by trekking ( B, L, D)
At the beginning, delightfully trek along the forested mountain for about 3 hours, till the top of the Alangga Mountain, about 5000 ft above sea level. Trek down to HtanggaKachin and Lizu village, a small village on the bank of the Htanggariver in the dense forest, after lunch at the zenith. The evening scenes of local fishermen in the river bestow your relaxing mind with the sense of repose. Dinner and night stop will be at a traditional house.
Day 4.Htangga village – Uringga Village by trekking ( B, L, D)
Take an easy walk on the forested hill, together with the pleasant floating feeling of the picturesque vista and butterflies and the sound of birds and small animals. Arrival at Uringga forest camp is after trekking along the Kasan River. Take your time with trouble-free mind on the bank of the river in the evening, after 11 mile forest trekking during 7 hours, before the night stay at the camp.
Day 5.Uringga village - Babawvillage by trekking ( B, L, D)
Commence with the trekking along the slight ascending slope of the hill in the morning after breakfast. There are some suspension bridges, which are recommended for photographs, across many small streams. Lunch is on the way while enjoying trekking in the forest. Arrive at Babaw village, small but possessing the authentic village life, in the evening. Take a bath in Bahti River for refreshment when cease the 9 mile journey, and then stay for night at a Lizu traditional hut.
Day 6.Babawvillage – Rapbaw village -Comlin village by trekking ( B, L, D)
Today will be 12 miles trekking and overnight at Kwinmaling village. The morning is filled with the pleasing time of trekking on the cliff rocks along the Kasan River, together with the cool touch of air in the rocky valley. As necessary for reinforcement, take a rest at Magweza camp on the way. Lunch is enjoyed when stop sightseeing in Rapbaw village, located in the main junction to the Mt. Hakaborazi. The onset to Comlin village, one of the Rawan Christian villages on the trip, is in the evening. Spend the night at a Rawan traditional hut following seeing the sights in the village.
Day 7.Comlin village – Nomung villageby trekking ( B, L, D)
After morning 4 miles trekking, we can make sightseeing inNomung village. We will make half day sightseeing around the village and overnight at Namung village.The touch of the environment is commenced by trekking toward the destination Nomung, the main center of the trade between Myanmar and China, for 4 miles spending half of the day. Grab the leisure for the next day trek at the forest camp in the evening.
Day 8.Nomung village – Maza village by trekking ( B, L, D)
Today we will make 9 miles trekking and night stop at Maza village. By the time of crossing the Kasan River, in the morning while leaving Naungmung, on the suspension bridge, the nature and wildlife are the essence of – of them being good to enjoy – the route of the trek in the forest – in somewhere through the paddy fields. On arrival at Maza forest camp, situated on the base of the 5000ft high Barbulonemountain beside a small river, have dinner and spend the night with the experience of the forest.
Day 9.Maza – Namti Forest Camp by trekking ( B, L, D)
Expose the morning time with the trek up to the summit of Mt. Barbulone, for about two and a half hours, where the panoramic view fascinates of its natural beauty for photographs. Being able to see the ice mountain ranges of the Himalayas, though difficult, can be possible when the luck hits you. After that, trek down to Namti camp on Namti hill for dinner and night stop. It will be 12 miles trekking day.
Day 10.Namti Forest Camp – Mankhauk village( B, L, D)
Along the 11 miles down track, mostly in the dense forest, across the Htikha river. On the way, walking on a small suspension bridge will be grate time for photography. After long trekking in the deep forest, you will arriveMankhauk village for your nightstop. In the evening, stroll around the village and make a short visit toKaungmulong Pagoda which line on the bank of Malikha River. Dinner and night stop will be in the village.
Day 11.Mankhauk village - Putao- Yangon / Mandalay / Myintkyina( B, L, D)
In the early morning, transfer back to Putao to visit the morning market and have breakfast at a local restaurant. After that, visit Hakaborazi and Phoneganrazi national parts wild life education center and transfer to airport for your domestic flight to Yangon or Mandalay. If time permitted, you will visit a villages to observe daily lifestyle of local people.
